Forest School
My name is Joanne, I am a Senior Nursery Officer at the Pre-School and a qualified Forest School Leader. Each season I enjoy being able to share our Forest with the staff and children in Pre-School. We rotate the sessions to allow children to participate throughout the year.
Originating in Scandinavia the Forest School movement is recognised for the benefits it brings to the development of each child.
The Philosophy of Forest School is:-
Promote independent learning Encourage and inspire Raise self-esteem and confidence
Through:-
Small achievable tasks Child led learning
Using natural materials and resources the children have the opportunity to build dens, use tools safely and learn how to manage tasks independently. It is inspiring and rewarding to watch the children explore and develop their skills.
